Ltd., falls under an income tax bracket of 30%. Now lets say this user builds an asset that is valued at Rs. 1 Crore in a given financial year, with an expected life of 20 yrs. Under normal circumstances, the user will be able to claim an annual depreciation of 5% of Rs. 1.0 Crore ( 100%/20 years = 5%/yr) for the purpose of income tax.This implies that the user will be able to claim a tax benefit of 30% of 5% of Rs. 1.0 Crore per year = Rs. 1.5 Lakh per year for the next 20 years.However, when the investment is made in a Solar Plant, the user is allowed to depreciate the asset at 40%, thereby allowing the user to completely depreciate the asset within three years term, and saving a tax of Rs. 12 Lakh, Rs. 12 Lakh and Rs. 6 Lakh in the first, second and third year of operation respectively.The proposition of saving lakhs in taxes within only the first three years of installing a Solar PV system makes the project ROI (Return on Investment) increase by the virtue of accelerated depreciation.4) &nbsp; Source of Income&nbsp;&nbsp;A Solar plant can generate an income for you. If the power produced by your plant is more than your consumption in an on-grid system ( a PV plant that is connected to the grid), the DISCOM will pay you money based on the surplus unit produced based on the power purchasing price of the DISCOM. The ocean has absorbed as much heat between 1997 and 2015 as it did in the previous 130 years. The main driver of climate change is primarily due to burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. The burning of these fossil fuels generate greenhouse gas emissions, which act like a blanket wrapped around the earth, this traps the sun’s heat and raises temperatures.&nbsp;How does climate change affect you?There are multiple observable changes that you can see around you: changes in rainfall resulting in floods and droughts, intense heat waves, warmer oceans, acidic oceans resulting in coral bleaching, melting ice caps and rising sea levels.Climate Change impacts your health, environment and economy:1) &nbsp; Higher temperatures increase the duration, intensity and frequency of heat waves which can cause health risks.2) &nbsp; Worse air and water quality can increase the spread of&nbsp; certain diseases.3) &nbsp; Rising sea levels threaten coastal communities and ecosystems. What is a Solar PanelA solar panel or a PV Panel is a device that converts light from the sun, composed of photons, to electricity. A solar panel is a collection of solar or photovoltaic cells which can generate energy through photovoltaic cells. In the early days, solar energy was used primarily for the production of steam which was used to drive machinery. But it wasn't until the discovery of the "photovoltaic effect" by Edmond Becquerel that allowed the conversion of sunlight to electricity. In 1893, Charles Fritts invented the first solar cell which was formed by coating sheets of selenium with a thin layer of gold. And from this humble beginning would arise the device we know today as the solar panel.Russel Ohl invented&nbsp; the world's first silicon solar cell in 1941. Solar panels found their first mainstream use in space satellites. For most people, the first solar panel in their life was probably embedded in their new calculator.Today, solar panels are used to power a wide variety of applications. Solar panels are&nbsp; now used in calculators to solar plants that can power entire cities.&nbsp;Types of Solar PanelsMonocrystalline Solar Panels (Mono-SI)This solar panel is made of monocrystalline silicon. You can easily recognise them from the uniform dark colour and the rounded edges. The solar panel has one of the highest efficiency rates. Monocrystalline panels have a high power output, occupy less space, and last the longest. Another advantage to consider is that they tend to be slightly less affected by high temperatures compared to polycrystalline panels.<h4>Polycrystalline Solar Panels (Poly-SI)</h4>This panel is made of monocrystalline silicon. This type of solar panel has squares, and it has a blue, speckled look. With the Green Revolution taking over the world, the beginning of the end for Fossil Fuels are here. The boom in wind and solar has pushed the amount of electricity produced to record levels in 2022 according to Ember’s fourth annual Global Electricity Review.The use of fossil fuels (coal, oil &amp; gas ) to produce electricity is expected to fall in 2023. This marks the first year to decline in the use of fossil fuels outside of global recessions and pandemics. The lead author of the research, Malgorzata Wiatros-Motyka, said in a statement that the findings show that the world has reached the beginning of the end of the fossil age and We are entering the clean power era.Ember analyzed data from 78 countries which represent 93% of global demand for electricity. Nearly 40% of global electricity is now powered by renewables and nuclear energy, marking a new record high. Wind and Solar made up 12% of global energy generation in 2022 up from 10% in 2021. Solar Energy is the fastest growing source of electricity in 2022 for the 18th year in a row, with a 24% growth as compared to previous year and wind generation grew by 17%.Even with the rapid growth of the renewable energy sector, fossil fuels still continue their dominance.&nbsp; Coal Power has remained as the single largest source of electricity, accounting for 36% of global electricity production in 2022.&nbsp;Here are the Highlights of the Report<img src="https://sungloimages.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/Highlights_473949fdb7.jpg" alt="Highlights.jpg">The fall of emissions in the year 2022 reached record lows, but the emissions need to be falling faster.<ul><li>Electricity is at its cleanest, as wind and solar generate 12% of global power. The carbon intensity of global electricity generation fell to a record low of 436 gCO2/kWh in 2022.</li><li>Power sector emissions rose in 2022 (+1.3%), reaching an all-time high. Electricity is cleaner than ever, but we are using more of it. Coal generation increased by 1.1%, in line with average growth in the last decade.&nbsp; Gas power generation fell marginally (-0.2%) in 2022. Only 31 GW of new gas power plants were built in 2022, the lowest in 18 years. But 2022 saw the lowest number of coal plant closures in seven years.</li><li>Wind and solar are slowing the rise in power sector emissions. If all the electricity from wind and solar instead came from fossil generation, power sector emissions would have been 20% higher in 2022. The growth alone in wind and solar generation (+557 TWh) met 80% of global electricity demand growth in 2022 (+694 TWh). Clean power growth is likely to exceed electricity demand growth in 2023; this would be the first year for this to happen outside of a recession.</li></ul>&nbsp;How is India doing in the Green RevolutionIn the year 2022 India had the third largest power sector emission in the world, behind China and United States. India produced 1,162 million tonnes of CO2 accounting for 9.4% of the world total power sector emissions.<img src="https://sungloimages.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/Screenshot_388_ed7ab1a405.png" alt="Screenshot (388).png">India’s per capita emissions, however, are half the global average (0.8 tCO2 vs. 1.6 tCO2). India had a per capita power demand of 1.3MWh, one third of the Global Average 3.6 MWh.&nbsp;<img src="https://sungloimages.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/India_vs_World_Emissions_and_Demand_Sunglo_a265cd1079.png" alt="India vs World Emissions and Demand Sunglo.png">In 2022, India generated 77% (1,415 TWh) of its electricity from fossil fuels. Coal had the largest share at 74% (1,363 TWh), followed by gas (2.7%, 50 TWh), and other fossil (0.1%, 2.4 TWh). The share of wind and solar reached a record high of 9% (165 TWh, Hydro generated 9.5% (175 TWh) of electricity, while nuclear and bioenergy accounted for 2.5% and 2%, respectively.&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img src="https://sungloimages.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/Screenshot_390_b21224e507.png" alt="Screenshot (390).png"></figure><figure class="image"><img src="https://sungloimages.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/Screenshot_389_1c02ba7da3.png" alt="Screenshot (389).png"></figure>In ConclusionFor emissions to consistently fall the increase in demand must be met by clean renewable energy sources. Although this didn’t happen in 2022, all signs point to the fact that 2022 was a turning point.&nbsp;Following the energy crisis that followed the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, Many countries were forced to rethink their dependency on fossil fuels. Wind and Solar are being prioritized not only because they are clean but are also cheaper and more secure.&nbsp;Acting now, would bring more benefits than ever. Investing in renewables rapidly pays for itself. Solar and Wind Generate 12% of Global Electricity

What is Solar Subsidy Programme ?Solar rooftop subsidy scheme is an initiative by the Government of India to promote rooftop solar systems in the country. The government through the Pradhan Mantri Solar Rooftop Subsidy Yojana encourages use of renewable energy and provides subsidies to consumers. The subsidy will be released into the residential consumers’ bank accounts after installation and inspection which can be tracked online at the national portal. The plant capacity eligible for CFA/subsidy would be calculated after factoring in the capacity already installed at the site. The applications on the National Portal shall be submitted by the concerned consumer/beneficiary only.: For availing CFA/subsidy through the National Portal, it is essential to<ul><li>Install the rooftop solar plant through registered vendors of the concerned DISCOM and as per the guidelines and technical specifications issued by MNRE.</li><li>In addition, only indigenously manufactured solar panels/modules (both solar cells and modules shall be made in India) shall be used for installation of the rooftop solar plant.&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;How to apply for a Solar SubsidyYou can apply online for solar rooftop subsidy schemes through the official website. Below are the steps to follow:1) &nbsp; &nbsp;To apply visit&nbsp;<a href="https://solarrooftop.gov.in/">solarrooftop.gov.in</a>&nbsp;2) &nbsp; &nbsp;Download Sandes App &amp; Register in the portal with the following3) &nbsp; &nbsp;Select your State4) &nbsp; &nbsp;Select your Electricity Distribution Company5) &nbsp; &nbsp;Enter your Electricity Consumer Number6) &nbsp; &nbsp;Enter Mobile Number7) &nbsp; &nbsp;Enter Email8) &nbsp; &nbsp;Login with Consumer Number &amp; Mobile Number9) &nbsp; &nbsp;Apply for the Rooftop Solar as per the form10) &nbsp;Wait for the feasibility approval from DISCOM. Once you get the feasibility approval install the plant by any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM11) &nbsp;Once installation is over , submit the plant details and apply for net meter12) &nbsp;After installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM, they will generate commissioning certificate from portal13) &nbsp;Once you got the commissioning report submit bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal. Subsidy will come your account within 30 working days&nbsp;How will I receive Solar Rooftop SubsidyThe subsidy process starts from registration, and ends with the release of subsidy into your bank account.
